Feng shui

As a spiritual guide and clairvoyant, I have discovered over the years how powerful an influence our surroundings have on our well-being and quality of life. Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese practice, offers a fascinating approach to creating balance and harmony in our homes and lives. Let me guide you through this exciting world of energy flows and harmonious decor.

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice that focuses on arranging your surroundings in a way that promotes harmony and balance with the forces of nature. The word "Feng Shui" translates directly to "wind" (feng) and "water" (shui), and its roots stem from an understanding that human life is intimately connected to the surrounding natural elements. The purpose of Feng Shui is to optimize the flow of energy – known as “Chi” – in your home or workplace to create a harmonious lifestyle.

The basic principles of Feng Shui

In order to understand and practice Feng Shui, it is important to know the basic principles that form the foundation of this way of thinking:

  • Chi : Chi is the life force or energy that flows through everything in the universe. In Feng Shui, it is essential to create an environment where Chi can flow freely, as disturbances in this energy can affect both your mental and physical well-being.
  • The five elements : Feng Shui is based on the balance between the five natural elements – word, metal, water, wood and fire. Each of these elements represent different aspects of life and must be balanced to promote positive energy.
  • Bagua : This is Feng Shui's energy map, which is used to analyze and improve the energy flow in a room.
  • Command Position : In a room, the command position refers to the space furthest from the door but still having a clear view of it. This position is considered the most powerful and should be reserved for the most important pieces of furniture.

Bagua - Your home's energy map

In Feng Shui practice, the Bagua is a fascinating concept that acts as an energy map of your home. This map is symbolically placed over the floor plan of your home and reveals how different parts of your home correspond to specific aspects of your life.

The Bagua card consists of nine sections - the eight outer areas plus a central field. Each of these areas represents an important aspect of life that you can work with to create balance and harmony.

Bagua and the 7 chakras

The 7 chakras and the Bagua map within Feng Shui share a focus on energy and balance. Each chakra in the body corresponds to a specific area in Feng Shui's Bagua map. By working with both chakras and Feng Shui, you can strengthen the energy flow in both body and home, promoting harmony and well-being on all levels

Here you can see the different points in the energy map and which chakra corresponds to each:

The most effective way to integrate the Bagua into your life and apply Feng Shui to your home is by focusing on one to three areas that need the most attention. Do not try to work on all the areas at once, as this can be overwhelming. To strengthen the energy and improve the flow in the selected areas, you can apply specific Feng Shui principles and adjustments exactly where you feel a positive change is needed.

The five elements of Feng Shui

The five elements form the basis of balance in your home and life. Each element represents different qualities and energies associated with certain areas of life. When working with Feng Shui, the goal is to achieve harmony by balancing these elements in your surroundings.

  • Earth : Symbolizes stability and grounding. It brings us in touch with our foundation and self-care. Use flat, square shapes and colors like brown, orange and yellow to activate the earth's energy.
  • Metal : Represents precision and beauty. It helps us focus and create clarity. Implement circular shapes and metallic colors to enhance this element.
  • Water : Represents flow and change. It supports our ability to adapt and move forward. Undulating shapes and deep blue or black shades bring in the energy of the water.
  • Wood : symbolizes growth and vitality. It promotes creativity and expansion. Use rectangular shapes and fresh green and blue colors to activate the energy of the tree.
  • Fire : stands for passion and transformation. It lights our way and inspires us. Triangular shapes and warm red tones bring the energy of fire into the room.

Furnishing according to Feng Shui

Decorating your home with Feng Shui in mind is about creating an environment where energy can flow freely and naturally. Here are some specific tips for different rooms in your home:

  • Entrance : This is where energies first enter your home. Keep it bright, inviting and clutter-free.
  • Living room : Arrange furniture so that it promotes conversation and flow. Avoid placing the sofa with its back to the door.
  • Bedroom : The bed must be in the command position, where you have an overview of the door without being directly in line with it. Avoid mirrors that reflect the bed, as this can disturb your sleep and the energy in the room.
  • Kitchen : Keep it clean and well organized. The element of fire, represented by the stove, is central to the kitchen. Make sure that the stove is not directly opposite a sink, as water and fire elements will conflict here.
  • Bathroom : This room can potentially drain energy, especially if it is located in a Bagua sector that is important to you. Keep the bathroom door closed and make sure the toilet lid is down to maintain the energy in the room.
  • Home office : Place your desk in the commanding position and use colors that support focus and creativity.

Feng Shui and crystals

As a spiritual guide, I have often experienced the incredible power of combining Feng Shui principles with the energy of crystals.

In Feng Shui practice , crystals can be seen as nature's own chi or life energy in concentrated form. Each crystal has its own unique vibration and properties that can be used to enhance or balance the energy in specific areas of your home and life. Here are some of my top recommendations:

  • Amethyst : A versatile crystal that promotes calmness and healing. Perfect for placing in the center of the home to support general well-being.
  • Lapis Lazuli : Promotes self-expression and insight, beneficial in the field of communication or career.
  • Citrine : Attracts abundance and success, ideal for the wealth area or home office.
  • Sodalite : Promotes harmony and logical thinking, ideal for work or study areas.
  • Moonstone : Connects with feminine energies and intuition, beneficial in the bedroom or for meditation.
  • Aventurine : Brings luck and new opportunities, good to place near the front door.
  • Feng Shui Crystal Ball : They can be hung in any window where sunlight enters. The sunlight is refracted like a prism in their polished facets and dances throughout the room.

Remember that crystals can be beneficial to both your personal situation and home. The recommended crystals may have a particular resonance in relation to Feng Shui, but they are only indicative. It is always important to follow your intuition when choosing crystals, as it is your own energy that must harmonize with them. Also remember to clean and charge your crystals regularly to maintain their powerful energy.

My best Feng Shui rules

There are some basic rules of Feng Shui that can guide you in creating a harmonious home:

  • Balance between the elements : Make sure that all five elements are present in your home in a harmonious balance. For example, if you have a lot of wood and water in a room, you can add some earth elements to create stability.
  • Clean up the clutter : Clutter prevents Chi from flowing freely and can create stagnation in your life. Keep your spaces tidy and organized to maintain a healthy flow of energy.
  • Use natural light : It brings in vital energy.
Plants: They clean the air and add life.
  • Balance the Five Elements : Use colors, shapes and materials to represent each element.
  • Be aware of mirrors : They can amplify energy, both good and bad.
  • Create an inviting entryway : It affects how energy enters your home.
  • Fix what's broken : Defective objects create a bad energy flow. Be sure to repair or replace anything that is broken to maintain positive energy in your home.
  • Use rounded shapes : They promote a soft flow of energy.
  • Be conscious of color choice : Each color has its own energy and influence.

Implementing Feng Shui in your home is about creating a space that resonates with you and supports your highest potential. Start with small changes and feel the difference. Remember that your home is an extension of yourself - when you nourish your home with positive energy, you also nourish yourself.
