Lokta paper
Lokta paper is made from the bark of the Daphne bush (Nepali name: Lokta), which grows in the Himalayas. The bark grows back naturally and can be harvested repeatedly without harming the bush. A sustainable harvesting method.
The production of lokta paper is an ancient Nepalese craft. Today, production is mainly carried out by illiterate Nepalese women, who can thus support themselves.
