What is Reiki healing?

The word Reiki itself is Japanese and means a universal (Rei) energy (Ki). Reiki healing is a gentle, loving and at the same time very powerful form of energy healing. Reiki can heal many different kinds of ailments and injuries as well as create peace, balance and harmony in the body and mind.

The Japanese Dr. Mikao Usui has continued to give Reiki in the traditional form, and the Usui Shiki Ryoho system, which I have been taught, means that your energy system is taken care of.

In Reiki healing, universal healing energy is channelled down the healer's body and out through the hands. The energy is universal and this means that I am not going to drain myself, or transfer negative energy from me to you, or vice versa.

What is Reiki good for

Reiki strengthens your immune system and is good for inflammatory conditions and imbalances as the treatment can reduce stress, relax and activate the body's own ability to heal. Reiki loosens blockages, reduces anxiety and unease, reduces side effects and discomfort, and helps balance your energy system. It helps and cleanses on the physical as well as the psychological level and gives new energy in harmony between body, mind and spirit. It also helps to cleanse and detoxify the body of waste products and old, stagnant energy, as well as much more.

How a Reiki treatment works

If this is your first time to healing with me, we start with a short talk about why you are here. It may be physical or psychological reasons, or it may be that you are just enjoying the calm and want to receive the gifts of healing, such as more calm, balance and energy.

Then the session continues on the tray. Here you lie with clothes on and possibly a blanket over you. I recommend that you lie with your eyes closed and perhaps a small eye pillow, so that you can relax and enjoy the treatment even more.

During the treatment, I gently place my hands at different points on the body on top of the blanket. The individual positions of hand placement are usually held for 5 minutes. However, I heal intuitively, so if I sense that you need something different or something extra, I allow myself to change the treatment for your best.

When I heal, it can be felt in the form of a slight tingling, warmth or coldness that can be so pleasant that you fall asleep. Some feel nothing at all, and this can also vary from time to time. Whether you feel anything or not is of no importance to the effect of the healing. The Reiki energy goes where you need it, in other words it is your own system that determines what is healed.

Number of treatments

A single healing session usually can't stand alone - but it never hurts to have just one treatment every now and then. However, I recommend that you should ideally plan to have healing on an ongoing basis, or a minimum of 4 treatments in a row, over as few days as possible. This helps the energy integrate into your system and help you much better.

Some experience improvement after a single healing session, while others find that more treatments are needed. It depends very much on your system and what you need help with. But how you organise your course is entirely up to you. Reiki can stand alone as a treatment, but there is no doubt that it certainly supports other kinds of treatments as well. So to combine Reiki healing with other treatments, you are most welcome. It just depends on your own needs and wishes.

After treatment

Here it is important that you drink a lot of water during the rest of the day, as your system is in the process of cleansing. I therefore also recommend that it is best not to have any plans after a healing, but that you have some time to yourself and perhaps not have to do so much afterwards.

How it feels after treatment varies greatly. Some experience fatigue, others renewed energy.
